Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how OurMarket collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the OurMarket mobile application and related services.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use OurMarket, we may collect or process:

• Account information: email address, display name, Firebase user identifier, and information used to confirm ASU email verification.
• Profile information: information you choose to associate with your profile.
• Marketplace content: listing titles, descriptions, categories, condition, price, notes, selected meetup location, listing status, and listing photos.
• Messages: direct-message content, timestamps, conversation participants, and read/unread state.
• Trust and safety information: blocked-user relationships, reports submitted to OurMarket, report reasons, related listing/user/thread identifiers, and information needed to investigate safety complaints.
• Event participation information: when event features are active, OurMarket may process event participation, station completions, giveaway allocations, and related integrity or audit records.
• Technical information: information processed by Firebase and Apple services used for authentication, database access, storage, app integrity, and device attestation. This may include device or diagnostic identifiers used to protect the service from abuse.

How we use information

We use information to operate and secure OurMarket, including to:

• Create and maintain user accounts.
• Verify eligible email addresses.
• Display and manage marketplace listings.
• Enable communication between users.
• Prevent abuse, enforce marketplace rules, investigate reports, and maintain platform safety.
• Operate event features when they are made available.
• Maintain service reliability, authentication, data integrity, and fraud prevention.
• Process account-deletion requests and related retention obligations.

Service providers

OurMarket uses third-party infrastructure providers to operate the app. These include Google Firebase services such as Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and App Check, as well as Apple platform services used for app distribution and device attestation. These providers may process information on OurMarket's behalf according to their own terms and privacy practices.

Advertising and tracking

OurMarket does not use advertising SDKs and does not use your information for cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking.

Location

OurMarket does not request your device's GPS location for normal marketplace use. Meetup locations presented in the app are selected from predefined options rather than collected from your device's precise location.

Photos and camera

Listing photos are selected using Apple's system photo picker. Camera access may be requested only for app features that require scanning, such as event QR codes when those features are active.

Content moderation and safety

OurMarket uses automated validation and user-reporting tools intended to reduce clearly abusive or objectionable content. Reports and blocked-user relationships may be stored so OurMarket can investigate complaints, enforce platform rules, and protect users.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain account and marketplace functionality, investigate safety issues, comply with legal obligations, and protect the integrity of the platform. Some security, deletion, or audit records may be retained after account deletion when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, safety, or legal compliance.

Account deletion

You can request account deletion from within the OurMarket app. Account deletion is designed to remove or disassociate account data in accordance with the app's deletion workflow, subject to limited retention where necessary for safety, security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

Children's privacy

OurMarket is designed for college-community use and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We use authentication, access-control rules, app-integrity protections, and other technical safeguards intended to protect OurMarket data. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as OurMarket changes. When we make material updates, we will revise the effective date shown above.
